Kindred School of Yoga is pleased to announce that it is offering a scholarship place for a BIPOC student for it’s 200hr Yoga Teacher Training starting April 2024.

Kindred is all about community and our mantra has always been to create a space where everyone feels welcome and included whilst nurturing their practice. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide an opportunity to someone from a marginalised community.

The yoga & wellness industry has notoriously lacked diversity and focused primarily on white affluent women. The tide is changing due in part to the #blacklivesmatter movement and we strongly feel it is our responsibility to be part of this change and help end systemic racism.

Offering a BIPOC scholarship place is part of our commitment to ensuring a welcoming, safe and inclusive space for BIPOC students on the teacher training and at the studio. Kindred has also provided a Racial Equity Training with Dr Stacie Graham and Yoga Equity Training with Kallie Schut to the 200hr teaching faculty. This training helps ensure that our graduating students do so with a deep understanding of the importance of their role regarding equality and anti-racism in the yoga industry.

The Kindred 200hr YTT is taking a unique look at yoga humanities led by Kallie Schut an expert in Race Equity, Justice in Cultural Appropriation & Integrity in Yoga and Jonelle Lewis, advanced yoga teacher and yoga inclusivity activist.  History of Yoga and Philosophy will include modules on race equity, cultural appropriation in yoga and the colonisation of yoga.
