qigong
Qigong: ‘Qi’ (“chi”) means life energy and ‘Gong’ (“gung”) means to cultivate, therefore the practice of qigong is the practice of cultivating one’s own life energy. Qigong is one of several pillars of Chinese Medicine, and is the basis for all Chinese martial arts. In Daoism and Buddhism, qigong is the primary means of exercise, along with regulating the breath and calming the ‘heart-mind’. The practice of qigong consists of blending active/ dynamic movements with breathing, visualisation and meditation techniques to promote strength, flexibility and a healthier flow of qi throughout the body.
