A weekend retreat exploring women’s wellbeing through yoga, food, rest and connection.
Rooted is a collaborative retreat created by senior yoga teacher and Kindred co-founder Katarina Rayburn and chef Niaomh Convery from The Shared Plate. Together, they offer a weekend of nourishing practices designed to help women slow down, reconnect with their bodies and feel deeply supported.
With over 20 years of combined experience facilitating and hosting groups, Katarina and Niaomh create warm, welcoming spaces where people can feel at ease.
The Retreat
Throughout the weekend, Katarina and Niaomh will weave together movement, food, rest and conversation to support women’s health in a grounded and accessible way.
There will be a focus on hormonal health, nervous system support and reconnecting with the body’s changing rhythms through different stages of life — from the menstrual cycle to menopause and beyond.
The Venue: Brinkburn, Northumberland
Set within the beautiful Northumberland countryside, Brinkburn offers the perfect setting for a weekend of rest and reconnection. Surrounded by nature, woodland walks and open skies, the venue invites guests to slow down and step away from the pace of everyday life.
With its peaceful atmosphere, historic character and beautiful surroundings, Brinkburn creates space for quiet moments, meaningful conversation and deep rest. Whether gathering together for meals, practising yoga, sitting by the fire or walking through the surrounding landscape, the environment itself becomes part of the retreat experience.
The retreat will include plenty of free time to enjoy the grounds, immerse yourself in nature and simply be.
Rest, Nature & Ritual
There will be plenty of time to rest, walk in the beautiful surrounding nature and simply slow down.
Guests will also have the option to take part in sauna sessions and cold swimming — gentle but powerful practices that can support circulation, energy and resilience, while encouraging presence and connection with nature.
Yoga with Katarina
Mornings will begin with dynamic yoga led by Katarina, designed to awaken the body, build warmth and reconnect you with your strength, breath and vitality.
Following the elemental Mandala Vinyasa system, these sessions will be uplifting, grounding and adaptable to different energy levels.
In the evenings, the pace will soften into yin and restorative practices to release tension, support deep rest and help you settle into the slower rhythm of retreat life.
Your yoga sessions will take place in the stunningly converted barn at Brinkburn, fully equipt with yoga mats and props.
Food with Niaomh
Food will be central to the retreat experience. Niaomh will guide guests through a holistic exploration of food and women’s wellbeing, drawing on seasonal ingredients, traditional knowledge and years of experience working with food and community.
Across the weekend, she will create vibrant, nourishing meals designed to support women through different stages of life, with a focus on energy, mood, balance and overall wellbeing.
Guests will share communal meals, herbal teas made from homegrown and dried herbs, and hands-on cooking workshops designed to reconnect us with the simple act of feeding ourselves well.
