Syllabus

Intelligent & Creative Sequencing

Design intelligent, well-balanced sequences that blend advanced asanas, yin postures and creative progressions for transformative classes.

Ethics & Inclusivity

Community is at the heart of Kindred’s ethos. In this module, you will explore yoga’s ethical roots and discover how to create an inclusive, compassionate space for all.

Skilled Assists & Adjustments

We’ll explore the nature of touch - its benefits and the sensitivities that surround it, enabling you to offer assists and adjustments confidently and foster a safe, inclusive space.

Advanced Anatomy & Physiology

Refine your anatomical understanding to support a safer, more effective practice. Explore the anatomy behind poses and how this can inform your sequencing and hands-on assists while creating a safe, empowering environment where students feel supported and connected.

Philosophical Texts

Uncover the historical roots of yoga principles and practices while exploring their relevance in modern life. As we study foundational texts including the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita and Yoga Sutras, you will learn how to weave them into your teaching. Students are invited to examine the ancient philosophies of yoga, encouraging them to reflect on their meaning and application as contemporary practitioners.

Business Development and Further Offerings

Expand your reach and impact as a yoga teacher by learning how to design and lead retreats, workshops, and teacher trainings. This module also offers space for shared reflection on the lived experience of teaching, exploring the evolving role of the yoga teacher, the roots of yoga pedagogy, and its relevance within today’s social and political landscape.

Subtle Energies

This module is a guided journey from a conceptual to an experiential understanding of the subtle body. Using kundalini and pranayama techniques, working with chakras, nadis, and aura layers, you will develop energetic sensitivity and awareness to deepen your practice and teaching, and gain confidence in working with the subtle realm as both a practitioner and teacher.

Pranayama & Breathwork

Pranayama is at the heart of yoga, offering a direct path to understanding and harnessing our inner energy through breath control. In this module, you’ll explore the anatomy and physiology of breathing, study classical pranayama techniques, and learn modern breathwork practices. You'll also discover how to skillfully integrate these tools into your classes, enriching both your teaching and your personal practice.

Ayurveda

Delve into the ancient science of Ayurveda, exploring its holistic principles for achieving balance and wellness. This module introduces key Ayurvedic concepts such as doshas, gunas, and seasonal living, helping you integrate these timeless teachings into your yoga practice and teaching. Learn practical tools for creating harmony in daily life, supporting both physical health and spiritual growth.

Pre/Postnatal Yoga

This specialised module combines ancient wisdom, holistic methods, somatic movement, and evidence-based techniques to empower you to effectively address pregnant students' and new parents' emotional, energetic and physical needs. You will gain the skills necessary to create safe, nurturing, and transformative practices. Topics include the philosophical and practical framework for teaching these students in an inclusive and supportive way, building communities that can change the experience of such transformative times in our student's lives.

BEYOND ALIGNMENT

This module explores the subtler ways of facilitating freedom and play in practice through specific yet open-ended guidance, using language that does not impose hierarchy or fixed binaries. Expect to explore the technicalities of sensuous cuing beyond alignment-based cues, drawing inspiration from our felt experience in relation to each other and the environment. Learn to transform the practice space into a braver space that encourages agency and invites choice through an embodied vocabulary that is both personal and inspirational.

Yin Yoga

This module invites you into the quiet depth of Yin Yoga, a powerful complement to the dynamic movement of Vinyasa. You’ll explore the foundational principles of Yin, including fascia theory, functional anatomy, and the energetic influence of the Chinese meridian system. Emphasis is placed on cultivating stillness from within, using long-held postures as gateways to deeper presence, meditation, and release. You’ll also learn how to weave Yin elements into your Vinyasa classes, offering your students a more balanced and integrative practice that supports both physical and energetic well-being.
